NC Saw Operator

Location: Judea, Tauranga, Bay of Plenty
Hours: 40-50 hours per week Monday to Sunday
Salary Range: $35 - $45 p/h
 
Pacific Stone seeks a CNC Saw Operator to join their existing team and set up, program, and operate computer-controlled machines (bridge saws and machining centers) to cut, polish, and shape granite, quartz, and marble. Pacific Stone's Tauranga-based factory produce bespoke quality stone benchtops and surfaces for the residential and commercial market.
 
Your job will be to ensure precise, automated fabrication of countertops, sink cutouts, and edging based on digital blueprints, optimizing accuracy and material usage, and transforming large stone slabs into finished custom countertops.
 
Role Responsibilities:

• Machine Setup / Operation - loading stone slabs onto the CNC machine, selecting diamond-tipped cutting tools, and launching cutting programs.
• Programming and Design Interpretation - loading digital CAD/CAM design files (from templating software) to direct the machine's movements.
• Fabrication Control - monitoring the sawing and cutting process, checking for potential errors, and overseeing automatic tool changes for cutting, shaping, and polishing.
• Quality and Safety Control - inspecting finished pieces for precision and quality standards, checking for defects, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment.
• Maintenance and Troubleshooting machines, such as replacing worn blades or cleaning components. 

Key Skills Required:

• Proficiency with CNC software and digital technology.
• You may also be experienced in CNC Profiling machines and Waterjet operations, which would be an advantage.
• A Forklift license would also be welcome.
• An understanding of the properties of different stone types and engineered surfaces would be ideal.
• Ability to work with tight tolerances to ensure high-quality, consistent finished products.
• Ability to accurately measure, read, and interpret specifications.
• Previous experience working with complex machinery such as CNC Saw, CNC Profiling, and Hand Polishing machines would be an advantage.
• Punctuality and reliability is a must.
• Flexibility to work some late nights and weekends on occasion.
